Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- Food coloring red and green, optional
- Sprinkles or colored sugar, for decoration
Instructions:
Set the oven to 350F 175C and heat it up
Mix the flour and salt together in a bowl
Put away
Put the softened butter and powdered sugar in a different bowl and mix them together until they are light and fluffy
Mix the almond and vanilla extracts into the butter mixture until everything is well mixed together
Mix the dry flour mixture into the wet mixture slowly at first, then keep mixing until a soft dough forms
To use food coloring, split the dough into several pieces and add a few drops of the color you want to each piece
Mix until the color is spread out evenly
Make a disc out of the dough, cover it with plastic wrap, and put it in the fridge for 30 minutes
Spread the chilled dough out on a floured surface until it's about 1/4 inch thick
Cut out holiday shapes from the dough with cookie cutters
Put the cookies with the shapes cut out of them on a baking sheet that has parchment paper on it
You can add sprinkles or colored sugar to the cookies if you want to
Put the cookies in an oven that has already been heated for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges are just beginning to turn golden
After taking the cookies out of the oven, let them cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet
Then, move them to a wire rack to cool all the way down
Put the cookies away in a container that won't let air in once they are completely cool
Serve the tasty Christmas butter cookies and enjoy them!
